stills in December 1990, the founding year could easily be stated as 1956 or 1962. The former date was when Glasgow whiskey broker George Christie bought the site on the banks of the Tromie River, not far from Kingussie, and the latter was the year in which dry-stone wallbuilder Alex Fairlie began constructing the distillery. Building proceeded on a leisurely basis, taking almost three decades. Once completed, Christie’s project was christened Speyside, which may seem slightly generic but was
14-year-old. Additionally, a single cask 32-year-old bottling was undertaken in 2010. TASTING NOTES GLENCADAM 10-YEAR-OLD single malt, 40% ABV A delicate, floral nose with soft fruit, vanilla, and a slightly nutty note. Citrus fruit, malt, and spicy oak on the smooth palate. The finish is relatively long and fruity. GLENCADAM 14-YEAR-OLD single malt, 46% ABV, finished in Oloroso sherry casks Vanilla and spice on the sweet nose, while the palate exhibits floral, spicy notes, and sweet sherry, giving
